Queen Zein Al-Sharaf is considered to be the founder of social welfare and women’s organizations in Jordan.  She was the president of the first Jordanian Federation of Women in 1944, the Chairperson of women’s branch of the Jordanian Red Crescent Society in 1948. and the Honorary President of the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) in Jordan.

 
Queen Zein Al-Sharaf was concerned about the welfare of orphans.  In order to improve exiting facilities, she set up a charitable foundation for orphans from birth to age 16.  “Mabarrat Umm Al-Hussein” is a model orphanage that offers not only a home but a good education, including social academic and vocational skills to orphans, preparing them to become productive members of society.
