had experience of women engineers taking career breaks and returning to work In conclusion, this generally positive response to career breaks for women engineer indicates that the introduction of career break schemes may allow highly skilled women to remain in the work force. The cost of training an engineer is considerable. This investment is normally recovered within about five years, but if an engineer then leaves, the company will not receive a full return on its investment.
